Make Time For Thyme

About Thyme:

While thyme is well known as a flavorful food seasoning and herb, it’s more than just a spice. The thyme plant (Thymus vulgaris) also produces thyme essential oil and has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

Thyme has been used for centuries, originating in the southern Mediterranean. Used by ancient Egyptians for embalming and in incense and baths by ancient Greeks, thyme was considered a sign of respect and courage.

More than Meets the Eye:

The thyme plant, along with several others, produces different essential oil chemotypes based on the environment it grows in. Although it is the same plant with the same genus and species, it produces different essential oils depending on growing conditions and country of origin.

This is important to know as different chemotypes are used for different purposes and have different safety issues, such as skin irritation.

The Benefits:

The linalool chemotype of thyme is perfect for skin application as it is soothing, gentle and nourishing. It supports health and fights infections and inflammation.  It has a sweet, soft aroma and provides an effective immune boost.

Thyme ct. linalool can be found in our Naturally Groovy Oils Flower Power Immunity Blend.
